Congrats!

congrats.  Columbia SC is HOT.  the area is in kind of low lying depression and there's not a lot of wind.  Get out to the coast when you get a chance since its near.

apparently he was amazed at all of the "tactical firearms" they had to offer.

what the hell happened here?  she looks too happy to have been shot

free and available ammo?  a full size 10mm compensated model Glock.  I had one. Loved it. couldn't afford to regularly shoot it.  So I sold it.

ammo where I'd have to carry my own or scavenge?  That would be a full size Glock 9mm. Its the AK of handguns. Indestructible and dependable.  Ammo everywhere and it will eat anything without complaining.

Cheap revolvers have the cylinder lock up or have the timing mess up all the time. Its not as fullproof as you think.

You do get what you pay for.

Ruger or S&W are really the only 2 revolvers that I would personally rely on. No Taurus or Rossi or anything else. Only other one that is intriguing is the Rhino - but, Chiappa (who makes the Rhino) isn't exactly known for high quality either

I would add Colt to that list as well.  Other than those 3, I'm really not a fan.

twice in a year?  sounds like he needs to stay away from gun shows!  (or maybe the writer needs to be a little more clear in their writing) :th_thicon_question:

all stealers rip to some degree but for God's sake they should at least be somewhat discreet!

King NC is only about 30miles from Madison NC.  Madison is where Remington's HQ is located.

In a state of national emergency, the law that's in effect though is whatever the officer standing before you says it is.  You won't necessarily have the luxury of debating with a LEO as to what the federal court says.  Best to keep low no matter what and only show when necessary.

awesome article though.  I didn't know that had happened.

I'm not worried at all.  This is TX, not Mass.

ok. just got hold of her.  she said "cool! we'll take it!".  this should win me some points.  Navasota it is.  I'll PM you my number.

hey ship, I think I'll take it.  let me confer with my personal finance consultant (aka "warden") and I'll get back to you in a few mins.  Any chance you can meet me in Brenham for the sale?

Trayvon Martin case prompts Houston lawmaker to push Texas law’s change

District 147 Rep. Garnet Coleman

State Rep. Garnet Coleman, D-Houston, has set his sights on revising Texas’ “Castle Doctrine,” similar to Florida’s “stand your ground” law linked to the Trayvon Martin slaying.

KHOU-TV reports on its website that Coleman plans to introduce a bill to change the “shoot first” aspects in the Texas law.

“All it takes is a tragedy for people to understand that something needs to be changed,” Coleman says. “And I don’t think any legislator in this state wants to be perceived as allowing somebody the ability to shoot someone without good cause.”

Coleman says a 2007 change that eliminated a “duty to retreat before using deadly force” clause in the law makes it too easy for Texans to shoot first.

He cites the case of Joe Horn, the Pasadena man who shot and killed two burglars leaving his neighbor’s house in November 2007. The grand jury refused to indict him, and he was never charged with a crime.

South Texas College of Law professor Gerald Treece tells KHOU that Coleman’s proposal doesn’t stand much of a chance.

“I don’t have to retreat before I defend myself,” he said of the interpretation of Texas law even prior to the Castle Doctrine update in 2007.

“I don’t have to say, ‘Deadly force is going to be used, I think I’ll retreat.’ You can be a man in Texas and stand up for yourself without retreating,” said Treece.

Forget this FOOL.  He actually said these words:

"The 2007 change that eliminated a “duty to retreat before using deadly force” clause in the law makes it too easy for Texans to shoot first".  I just can't get past the words "duty to retreat".  If our founders could be resurrected for just one day they'd probably say, "please....just put me back in my grave...Good Heavens!!".  "Duty" to "Retreat" huh....

It is your "duty" to step aside and let Thug Crackhead to ransack your place, victimize your wife and/or kids, and steal all of your stuff....because those are the ones who vote for Dems so they are the ones who will get to keep their rights...or some crap like that..

I can tell you this much, these liberals are pushing harder and harder, and whether we try to maintain peace and order or not, it's getting harder and harder not to just smack the p*ss out of them the minute they start their never ending crybaby sessions....

So ummm...let me get this straight...you are suggesting that we should be required to let them SHOOT US in our home....BEFORE shooting them?  Cause, ya know...we'd survive a gun shot wound in our friggin pajamas and all....this sounds like a GREAT IDEA!!  They shoot us...we are then allowed to grab our gun...while bleeding to death in our own bedroom and all...and then shoot them...but be careful and be sure to do everything you can not to take a life....sure...I'll do everything I can...I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and tell them I have a gun and it is pointed right at their forehead....then it is THEIR "duty" to retreat...whatever happens to them after that is their own fault...

This piece of complete Democratic trash has ZERO business holding ANY public office and for that matter ZERO business even RESIDING in the Great State of Texas.  GTFO!  And take your armed guards and hodie nation with you...LOSER!

In fact, go ahead and have your "Hoodie Nation", let that goofball pea brain fool "President" Obama run that "nation" into the ground.  Let the TRUE Americans have ours!

This is TEXAS.  We need to take a serious look at DERELICTS like this and be sure we do whatever we can to keep Texas in NON-DEMOCRAT hands!!!!....this nonsense may force the rest of the country to nod their heads in agreement and say, "Yes.. we are HORRIBLE people and we should be punished, for all of eternity" , but here in Texas we know what right and wrong is...we don't need some GD liberal hypocrite (oxymoron) telling us it is our "duty" to give criminals more rights to victimize us!!!! :bangheadonwall:

breathe....breathe.......slow, deep breaths.....

hmmmm, if you removed all the babes WITHOUT guns, this thread would be down to one page.

Well, who says they HAVE to have guns - as per the subject line

Well, it is generally accepted that the subject line dictates the content.  Kinda like you wouldn't buy a book titled the 'History of Corvettes' and expect it to be a sequel to 'See Dick & Jane Run Over Spot'. :th_thicon_funny:

gotta agree here.  If I want just pics of naked women, there's plenty of that anywhere.

with signs like this around Houston, he should know better to even suggest it.  You guys should recognize this:

General Gun Discussion / Re: Finally got me a safe
« on: March 29, 2012, 10:47:07 PM »
I didn't like the Canon safes I saw there.  Ones I looked at only had bolts on one side of the door.  That might stop some smash and grab types, but they can be gotten in to with a good crowbar.  And I have a couple in my (attached) garage.  It's better than some of those 'Sentry Safes' (they're essentially lockable gun cabinets).

And after talking to a friend, now the MUCH better half doesn't want a safe.  Friend says that if BG breaks in and sees it, they'll either wait for you to come home or come back later while you're home and force you to open it.  Personally, I kinda say BS on that.  First, we have an alarm so if they break in, they won't be able to hang around for long.  Second, if they try to break in while we're home, we'd have enough firepower to repel boarders.

Anyone have any insight into the criminal pattern on this?  Personally, I don't think it's a huge risk and think it's better to make it difficult for a BG to end up with a bunch of guns.

Any safe can be opened with enough good crow bars and muscle.  I doubt that 99% of the criminals that break into homes carry the two or three 5-6 foot crowbars that will be needed to knock down, move to an open area, and pry open my bolted down Cannon safe in a timely manner. You can search videos on youtube seeing just about every safe maker opening the other makers safes and 99% of them will have two or 3 large men with 6 foot crow bars, the safe laying down on the floor with plenty of room to work around. They will have crowbars, sledge hammers, torches, punches, forklifts, chains, etc. Now do you honestly believe that 2-3 grown men walking around with these items will not draw attention? I have a 5 foot crow bar at work and it is very heavy. You don't want to carry it around for any extended amount of time.  They are also not something you carry around in your pants. Most criminals will carry one 2 foot crowbar at best and more than likely only carry a screw driver or knife.  Nothing else is needed to break into a home. I have yet to see any videos of anyone with a screw driver/knife and a small crowbar break into a large safe in a timely manner. Most criminals prefer not to draw attention to themselves and to not stay in a home for an extended amount of time. From my reading most home burglaries last about 10 minutes or less.  Sure you have the 1% that are crazy and will cook a meal, sleep in your bed, take a shower, watch TV and wait for you to get home to kill you after they make you open your safe.  But do you think that having a 30 active bolt safe that cost $10,000 will stop someone like that?  I would venture to say no.  Like I said before, you buy a safe to be a good neighbor, keep the average criminal out, keep your kids out of your crap, buy you some time if a fire breaks out, and most of all to give you some peace of mind.  Sure there are better safes out there for more money. If I had a few thousand dollars, no insurance, and the room to store it I would get me one.

we actually had this same discussion at work just the other day. One person told the story of a neighbor whose house was burglarized by some guys with a pneumatic jaws of life contraption to open their safe.  That is highly unusual imho and it sounds like they KNEW something was in there.  I've had cops tell me that the majority of burglars are smash and grab, in and out in 10mins as you said.  If its known that you've got lot of easily moveable (sell-able) items/currency/jewelry etc then you're a high profile target that won't stop a determined burglar.

When we started looking at one, we had a safety deposit box at the bank.  I cancelled it after they delivered ours.   Wife just rolled her eyes when I told her the safe would pay for its self from savings on cancelling the safe dep box........ in 66.6 years.

I gave up on safe deposit boxes at banks when I went to check mine out one day and they said I had missed a payment on it the previous year.  (I had forgot all about the yearly payment).  They had all of my belongings in a cardboard box on a shelf with no name on it. they had to search high and low and finally just show me a "mystery box" and ask if it was mine.  I actually had a highschool ring in the box with my name ingraved on it that proved it was mine.

Don't trust a bank!
