How much can i pick up an ak 74 parts kit for and what do i need? I want 5.45mm, not 762

This is where I'm stuck at until I can find a machine shop that can help me drill that barrel pin hole... If anyone knows a machine shop or has an end mill, drill press, and reamer and is willing to help me out here, PM?

Yes it does. I'd trade AKs if I thought he was dumb enough to go for it. But he's not. Good build by a good kid. And yes, I'm old enough to call him a kid!

Yep. XinTX had the end mill/but we needed and we both got the job done on a harbor freight drill press. Wasn't as hard as I had expected it to be.

The gunsmith from Houston Armory never called me back when they said he would the next day, but then again i didnt expect him to haha.

You'll need a receiver

Then add a rivet kit and a barrel.

Then find a 'build party'. Some special tools and skills needed, but it's not that hard if you have them available. The issue Jak had was the metric drills. Need a 7mm, 5mm, 4mm, and 3mm (not sure if we used all those sizes). Get several in the 3mm size as they're small and can snap rather easily.

Thanks! Still not done yet, i took it to the range and experienced multiple FTE's. I think it's undergassed, may need to adjust that gas port or enlargen it. AVOID U.S. MADE BARRELS AT ALL COSTS.

I had many stovepipes and these... unejected cases double feeding. Nalioth thinks it may be a gas issue.

Check your magazine feed lips against ones that are confirmed to work in another AK-47. Since this is a home-build, the chances of this thing jamming because of a bum magazine are slim. Still, it might be something to consider as well.

Haven't made it to the range with mine yet. So time will tell if I have the same issue. I do have the gas port drill in case you need it. It's a long bit to reach down the gas port.

Finally got out to the range with mine. It fired and fed fine. Shots were off to the left a lot. Adjusted the windage (I think I got the elevation right) but it was still shooting left. But I didn't want to adjust any further given the wind was blowing pretty good right to left, and we were at the station furthest from any trees that would block the wind from that direction.

What distance were you shooting from? I still have yet to fix mine, I've been too busy lately on vacation and now I'm broke

Shooting from 50 yards.

If all you need to do is open up your gas port, all you need is a piece of 1/4" dowel to protect the barrel. I have the gas port drill bit.
