If you couldn't tell I don't interview for jobs well. I take a much more direct approach if I have to interview. This is what I know and can do now what are you willing to pay. Interviews with me are short, sweet and directly to the point.

Yeah, I pretty much interview the same way. "This is what I know, this is what I can do and this is how much money I expect". Then I start interviewing the company. I'll start asking questions about benefits, vacation, profit sharing, what's your turnover rate and stuff like that.
But, I've never been to an interview while I was unemployed either. I've always been in a situation where I had a job and was looking for a better one. I am fortunate enough to be in a job market where the demand is greater than the supply. There aren't a lot of seasoned tool & die maker/designer/manager/engineer type people around.
The comment that I made earlier about the thank you email and the inquiry a week later is based on what I see when I am interviewing prospective employees.
