Dumb questions.

var addthis_config = {"data_track_clickback":true}; Why SBR?  Are there any advantages over a mid length AR?  I am wondering if the accuracy of SBR is not as good as a mid length because of the barrel length?

I'll admit the cool factor of a SBR with suppressor is very tempting  :thumbsup1:  guess I need some reasons to justify spending the money and go through the process.  Would love to hear your feedback.  Thanks!

For a civvie who isnt getting in and out of vehicles constantly, or a leo, its just a fun cool factor because you can. Unless you are doing a lot of hunting getting in and out of your vehicle. The accuracy difference is not something your really going to notice unless your a professional shooter; i have seen people accurately shoot 12 inch sbr's out to 500 yards making successful first shot multiple hits on man sized targets. You just need to realize, if you make an AR sbr, that reciever will probably stay with you for the rest of your life.

TAMC GLOCK:
So can you sell an SBR receiver? And what happens if you change your address?

jared:
You can but i dont know how that or change of address works.

From my time at the FN Forum, I read a lot because many people were short barrelling their PS90s....

I do know that once you go this route, there are rules in play... From what I have read, this is my understanding of things:

You will forever have to update the ATF with your address of where you live (with the gun).

Also, you have to get permission from the ATF to leave the state with it (if you ever wanted to). And, you may not be able to take it to different states.

You can sell it, but the buyer has to jump thru the same legal hoops you did when you bought/made yours. And, it does make it hard to sell, because by the time they go thru all that trouble, why would they buy used. They may as well go new themselves. Also, depending on how you did it - you will either engrave your name or the name of your trust. Someone may not want their receiver engraved with your name.

Basically, if you go this route, you better be sure you want it.

Also - I'm not a huge AR guy, but from what I have read over the years -it is my understanding that you get performance issues with 5.56 ammo when you start using short barrels. Expansion of the round in the target suffers.

Really, however - it's just a kewl thing that some people want. I have come close to shortbarrelling my PS90s before. But, besides killing my warranty - I really don't want to pay for the parts and labor AND the $200 fee, plus trust fees, etc. So, I've just kept my PS90s as is. WIth the factory barrel, they are still shorter than most short barreled ARs. And, i don't have all the limitations that come with all that.

There are some guys here on the forum who have gone and done this type of stuff, though. They will probably chime in and correct anything wrong I may have stated...
